Twila and Shaun have been pouring their hearts and souls into a documentary about digital rights and free culture in the digital age. Their work is awesome, check out their trailer! The documentary features interviews with Larry Lessig, Richard Stallman, Danger Mouse, Schultz, Doseone, and me. It’s pretty humbling to be associated with such Free Culture legends in their cast.
I was contemplating such things while on my run today around the San Elijo Lagoon, and I guess one of the passive goals of my blog is to establish a fence-post in the Free Culture space. I think that the right to learn from reverse engineering and to share such results freely is an important part of innovation. Hopefully by creating content and freely sharing it we can establish at least a cultural precedent, if not a legal precedent, for the rights to explore and learn in the hardware space.
