Hey all, just one more week left in this month’s Name That Ware contest! There have been a lot of great responses, it will be tough picking a winner. Thanks to everyone who has taken out the time to participate. I’m already looking for the next ware to put on display!
Let me know if you have any interest in seeing something specific on my site! There are a lot of fun things to think about and to write about. I just wrote a page about Diodes, Solitons and Taoism. It’s more philosophical, but I just love those little “just so” stories about life. Some other things I’ve been thinking about writing about include silicon hacking–learning to identify transistors and gates by looking at them, and maybe also doing a monthly “tear-down” of some random electronic equipment. It’s tough for me to blog about my daily paid activities, since everyone uses NDAs and/or wants to be first to publish, and its killing me because the stuff is so cool.
Anyways, if you have an opinion, let it be known!
More articles like “Diodes, Solitons and Taoism” please :)
this article excited me out, wish i could see the world you see
thanks and please continue, regards
I’ve been a big fan of your work for quite awhile, but I don’t know if I am big fan of “form of: BLOG!” It seems like celebrity and humility cannot coincide, especially in the world of the blogger. Please say it isn’t so!!!
Sophie–thanks for the comment. I think humility is an important virtue; I’ll endeavor to keep the blog down-to-earth. Looking back on the entries, I can see how some might be off-mark. I do like talking about my personal life a little bit in my blog, because my friends visit every now and then to see how I’m doing and what I’m up to, but maybe that dilutes the content.
Help me out, though–what aspects of this blog do you find bothersome? I’m new to the blogging phenomenon so any more info you can give would be appreciated. I’ve never really read any other blogs before, and I chose WordPress because it was easy to use and I thought it was time for me to find a better tool than emacs for writing web pages. Blogs seem to be a good match on the surface to how I have always written my web pages–stream of consciousness, here-is-what-I’m-doing-today types of diaries, but an aspect I didn’t anticipate and I’m trying to better understand is that blogs are interactive with the readers. Now, instead of getting emails on my pages, there are shareable posts. I think it’s kinda neat, but maybe it can also lead to problems.
thanks for the input!
Hi Bunnie,
*Excellent* article! I sweated through semiconductor physics and hated it (prof basically recited contents of ‘Semiconductor Fundamentals’, volumes 1-4 verbatim).
Your short article provided more insight than the course did! Please continue with other topics.
