Winner of Name that Ware June 2005!

Well, this month’s Name that Ware contest was maybe a little bit too tough. I had only one bold contestant this time, and his answer was quite good. Sean did his homework to check the Microchip website and try and narrow down which device this was. Alas, his guess was not quite correct, but still excellent. Thanks for playing and congratulations, Sean! Please drop me an email to claim your prize!

The solution to this month’s Ware is the Microchip PIC 18F1320. I chose this ware because I was playing around with it to develop a hack that allows me to bypass the security fuses in the device. The high-res image contained probably barely enough information to narrow down the device to a handful of devices, given the relative sizes of the memory blocks and some of the more visible features included in the device.

Next month’s Ware will be a bit easier, I hope. I’ll post the new ware sometime over the long weekend! Happy July 4th to everyone in the US!
