So, for my other pondering today…I just wanted to express my pleasant surprise at the Nintendo Wii. It’s a refreshing departure from the “Bigger, Badder, Better” philosophy embraced by the Microsoft-Sony race. The Nintendo Wii seems to focus on innovating the way we interact and play, and making games fun and enjoyable. Which, afterall, is why I play games. Kudos to Nintendo for sticking to their philosophy and sticking to their own path, even when the playground bullies tease you about your effeminate, youthful design and less powerful engine. Of the three next-gen consoles, the Wii is definitely the one I’m most looking forward to owning and playing…and taking a part, of course :) I have immense respect for the Nintendo hardware engineers, they set the bar for tasteful circuit board design and aesthetically pleasing wares. I always learn a thing or two when I open their boxes and take a good long look inside.

Interestingly, the Slashdot poll indicates that 49% of readers prefer the Wii. So I guess I’m not alone!
