    Yes, this is definately for telephony. All the major parts are Western Electric (WE). After doing some searching with the card size (ty for the ruler), number of pins, etc, I found that it is a Western Electric Key Telephone Unit (KTU) card. They are about 8 inches with 80 contacts.

    Each one of these cards served a single dedicated telephone line, and the card created a loud “Click!” noise when it placed/received a call.

    Here is a video of a #5 crossbar switch being used in an American city (probably in the 70’s/80’s), you can hear the thousands of clicking cards working in the background.

    Sadly i knew this came from an old phone system just from looking at it for about 3 seconds… I see stuff like this quite often… if you ever want some pics of cool old stuff let me know :-D
