The Ware for October 2013 is shown below.
This month’s objective is to identify what piece of equipment this is a part of, rather than the identity of the specific sub-components shown in the photo.

Espresso coffee maker?
I can see a pump and the plumbing looks familiar.
I see a miniature air pump wrapped in foam (to dampen motor noise I assume), a solenoid valve (with only one intake, so it’s a pressure release valve) and the back of a AA battery compartment (so this is most likely a portable or hand held device).
I guess this is part of an automatic blood pressure meter.
A water softener ?
Cheetah is an appropriate name. That was fast!
I found the same parts: battery compartment, pump and solenoid, and the pressure can’t be too high (no tube clamps, all plastic fittings). Espresso maker is out because of battery operation.
Blood pressure meter is a good fit for the components.
My guess is hot-air solder re-work station.
same here.
Hot-air station air pressure sensor?
It is the vacuum pump and charge generator for a Mass-Spectrometer.
An inkjet printer?
Perhaps part of a small Pick and Place machine?
Fog machine.
Based entirely on the holiday.
De-soldering machine
Perhaps a solder paste/glue dispenser like a pe 968a
Since everyone’s already gueesed the obvious I’m going to have to go with vacuum pump from a pick and place machine.
mmmm and that is different to my guess how? lol
Lol I’m going to have to go with a keurig coffee maker.
There’s what looks to be the tail end of a brushed dc motor in the back for a low pressure pump. So it can’t be anything too nice and expensive with that kind of motor
Blood pressure sensor. The pump inflates the cuff, the solenoid is the valve to release the pressure. One hose goes to the cuff, the other hose goes to the pressure sensor on the PCB.
It’s powered by 3 * AA batteries, I think. The solenoid is on top of the battery compartment with a black and red wire going in to it. Considering all the hoses are just pushed on, this thing is not meant to last forever, hence a toy. Super soaker?
Water pistol machine gun. Pew pew pew! Had one when I was a kid, the insides looked remarkably like this!
Saw a piping like that in an IBM AS/400 tape drive. That device had a vacuum pump to ensure that the tape would stay stick to the heads during read/write operations. That yellow thing could be the pressure sensor that alerts the system if the piping is leaking. I have somewhere a vacuum gauge from IBM to test the vaccum of the AS/400 tapes that a technician gave me as a present when he retired.
I agree with the sphygmomanometer guess. These pictures show similar plumbing

Blood pressure meter?
vacuum pick up tool?
I really want to say it is related somehow to electronics rework but also have a feeling you may be trying to trick us :)
I’ll say it’s a small vacuum laminator.
I’m pretty sure that this is a blood pressure meter, or a sphygomanometer from what everyone else is writing…

hypertension?
It’s difficult to find well-informed people on this topic, but you seem like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks
