The Ware for December 2020 is shown below.
This one should be much easier to guess than last month; click for a larger image that has more context. This was one of my first attempts at repairing a thing; it obviously didn’t end well, as my solder-fu was clearly not up to snuff some 30 years ago.
This is the last ware for 2020! I really had to dig through the archives for the last couple of wares. With travel restrictions still in place, I haven’t gone further than a 5km radius now in 9 months — probably a lifetime record for me. I might have a few more interesting pieces of gear from around the home I could share, but especially these days, I welcome guest entries!
Searching around the GI sound and video chip leads pretty quickly to the TV out card for the Intellivision :

Is there also a prize for fastest solve? Because that was fast!
Living in the right timezone helps a lot on this one I believe
That’s a mainboard from an Intellivision video game console.
Commodore 64!
Are those heat sinks on the 3, 4 & 5 40-pin DIPs?
I thought consumer-ware chips didn’t need special cooling until the end of the 1980s..
I can confirm that the Intelivision ran quite warm to the touch on the outside of the case while it was on. I wonder if that thing is still in my parents basement…
I can confirm this is from an Intellivision console mainboard. I just recently worked on one replacing all capacitors and upgrading it’s video output to composite. Those axial capacitors are truly a pain to find these days, so I just used radial.
Man, I almost forgot boards used to look like that! (And some new ones still do!) Composite video out, DIPs… Fun virtual trip.
